Third period propels Phoenix past Titan
SHERBROOKE, Que. – The Acadie-Bathurst Titan made their first road trip to the province of Quebec this season with a stop in Sherbrooke to take on the Phoenix Thursday night. Tyriq Outen was making his first career start in this one after appearing three times in relief.
Sherbrooke opened the scoring 3:08 on Edouard St-Laurent’s fifth of the season. It stayed that way after one period as the Phoenix dominated the Titan in the shots department 12-4. The second period saw no goals scored as Outen made a number of a big saves to keep the Titan in the game.
In the third period, things went south for the visitors as Sherbrooke blew the game wide open. Samuel Poulin made it 2-0 just 2:14 into the frame before Alex-Olivier Voyer extended the lead to 3-0 exactly eight minutes later. Benjamin Tardif netted a pair at 15:52 and 17:28 to push the Phoenix advantage to 5-0. St-Laurent’s capped it off with his second of the game for a 6-0 Sherbrooke victory.
