The official 2023-2024 Titan roster is announced!
The Acadie-Bathurst Titan have solidified their 2023-24 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League roster, Titan General Manager and Head Coach, Gordie Dwyer announced today.
The team will feature 18 veterans, and five rookies. Dwyer says the staff is very excited to begin working with this year’s edition of the Titan.
“Building from the crease out, we believe we have one of the strongest goalie tandems in the league. We also feel that we have four lines that can all contribute offensively and have a mobile defensive corps which will push the pace and support the attack. The team has a unique blend of veteran experience and exciting young prospects both up front and on the backend,” said Dwyer.
Returning to the fold are forwards Robert Orr, Dylan Andrews, Donovan Arsenault, Joseph Henneberry, Matthew McRae, Dominik Godin, Alexandre Lallier, and Blake Pilgrim-Edwards. Patrolling the blueline are Emile Perron, Ty Higgins, Harry Clements, William Bishop, and Drew Maddigan. Joshua Fleming will once again suit-up between the pipes. Newcomers to the veteran core are, Antoine Keller, Milo Roelens, Colby Huggan, and Jared Cosman.
The Titan drafted Keller 62nd overall in the second round of this year’s CHL Import Draft. Last season, he competed for Genève-Servette U20 of the U20-Elit in Switzerland, finishing the year with a goals against average of 3.40 in 25 games. Keller was drafted 206th overall in the seventh round of the 2023 NHL Draft by the Washington Capitals. Joining Bathurst from Sherbrooke, Roelens will hit the ice this season for his fourth year in the league after a breakout season with the Phoenix and an impressive playoff performance. The six-foot-six, 207-pound centreman scored 22 goals and 37 assists for 59 points in 68 games last season. He also boasted a plus/minus of 37. A steady defenceman who can contribute offensively, Cosman posted five goals and 19 assists in 57 games last year with the Sea Dogs. The five-foot-10, 180-pound blueliner from Saint John, is entering his fourth season in the league. Huggan, who hails from Charlottetown, P.E.I., has competed for the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada the last two years. In 2022-23, the five-foot-11, 143-pound forward tallied three goals and four assists in 25 games.
NHL camps are well underway, and five Titan players are suiting up for five different clubs. Keller, Washington’s 7th round pick will be in the crease for the Caps while Roelens earned an invite to Colorado Avalanche’s camp. Joining the newcomers at their respected NHL camps are returners Joey Henneberry (San Jose), Ty Higgins (Pittsburgh), and Josh Fleming (Buffalo). The three Titan players each earned invites after catching the eyes of NHL scouts last season. Look to see these five play important roles for the Team this season.
Rounding out the roster are rookies, Louis-François Bélanger (forward), Ty Peddigrew (forward), Samuel Fréchette (forward), Noah Laberge (defenceman), and Zachary Deleau (defenceman). The Titan selected Bélanger, 21st overall in the second round of this year’s draft, and Ty Peddigrew, 46th overall. Laberge, Deleau, and Fréchette were Titan prospects from the 2022 draft.
“We feel that each player offers a unique skillset to the team and can add to the lineup in their own way,” said Dwyer.
The Acadie-Bathurst Titan Home Opener will get underway Friday, Sept. 22, at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre, when they face-off against the Saint John Sea Dogs. Pre-game festivities begin at 5 p.m. at the rink, prior to puck drop at 7 p.m.
