GAME RECAP: Titan finish 2024 with victory over Saint John

The Acadie-Bathurst Titan finished 2024 with a victory over Saint John. The home side beat the Sea Dogs 5-2 at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre in front of a roaring home crowd Tuesday afternoon.
Goal scorers for the Titan were Liam Arsenault, Louis-François Bélanger, Alexandre Lallier, Mathieu St-Onge and Tyson Goguen.
Bathurst scored one goal in the first period (Arsenault at 6:36 with an assist from Lynden Larsen), and a pair in the second frame. Bélanger netted his at 15:58 and Lallier scored the game winner (Dawson Sharkey and François-James Buteau had the assist) on the power play 18:06. St-Onge scored a short-handed insurance goal at 16:44 in the third, before Goguen secured Bathurst’s fifth goal on the empty net at 18:28 to win the game.
Olivier Groulx – with assists from Nicolas Bilodeau and Zachary Morin – scored the Sea Dogs first goal on the power play at 8:18 in the second frame. Dylan Rozzi, with assists from Bilodeau and Tyler Peddle, netted the Sea Dogs second and final goal of the night on the power play at 15:46 in the third period.
The Titan swept the Stars of the Game. Bélanger was named first star, Arsenault the afternoon’s second star and St-Onge was the third star of the game.
Josh Fleming stopped 31 of the Sea Dogs 33 shots on net. Saint John netminder Justin Robinson stopped 32 of Bathurst’s 36 shots on goal.

On the road
The Titan is travelling to Cape Breton this week for back-to-back games at Centre 200 Friday, Jan. 3 and Saturday, Jan. 4.
Puck drop is 7 p.m. for both games against the Eagles.

Bathurst will host the Charlottetown Islanders Wednesday, Jan. 8 at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre.
