GAME RECAP: Titan down Sea Dogs 3-2 in the Port City

After losing to the Sea Dogs just three days ago, the Titan weren’t letting history repeat itself Sunday afternoon at TD Station. Thanks to a first QMJHL win and a first QMJHL goal, Acadie-Bathurst defeated Saint John 3-2 in the Port City.
The Titan started the game red hot. The offense was creating a lot of Grade A scoring chances early but couldn’t put one by Sea Dogs goaltender, Charles-Edward Gravel. Just over eight minutes into the first period, David-Alexandre Coulombe would get the Titan on the board off a one-timer pass from Biagio Jr. Daniele. It was the 2024 nineth overall pick’s first career point in the QMJHL. Coulombe’s second of the season would put the Titan up 1-0 and that’s how it would stand after 20 minutes of play.
It didn’t take the Sea Dogs long to get on the board as Olivier Duhamel took a high shot that beat Mathis Langevin to knot this game up at one. Seven minutes later, Darien Reynolds would take an Egan Beveridge pass before slipping the backhand past Langevin to give the Sea Dogs their first lead of the game. That didn’t bother the Titan, however, as Liam Arsenault would answer back just 15 seconds later with his first QMJHL goal to tie the game 2-2.
With five seconds left in the second period, Dawson Sharkey – with an assist from Colby Huggan and Harry Clements – netted the game winning goal to bring the game 3-2 for Bathurst.
Coming into the third period, the Sea Dogs were pressuring to tie the game. Saint John outshot the Titan 13-5 in the final frame. Thanks to excellent goaltending, the Titan would pull away with the 3-2 win and snapping the Sea Dogs four game winning streak.
Arsenault would be named the second star after scoring his first career goal. Langevin, claimed off waivers earlier this season, also picked up his first career QMJHL win.
The Titan return home to face the Halifax Mooseheads on Wednesday, Oct. 9th. Puck drop is 7 p.m. at the K.C. Regional Centre.
