Game Recap: Titan declaw Wildcats at home

The Titan defeated Moncton Sunday afternoon in front a roaring home crowd. Acadie-Bathurst beat the Wildcats – ranked first in the league – with a 2-1 thrilling win at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre.
Goal scorers for the home side were Lynden Larsen – celebrating his first QMJHL career goal – and Noah Laberge. Juraj Pekarcik netted the lone goal for the visitors in Sunday’s match-up.
After a scoreless first period, Larsen put the first points on the board at the 6:35 mark in the second, with assists from Tyson Goguen and François-James Buteau, to take the lead. Pekarcik – with assists from Alex Mercier and Caleb Desnoyers- tied the game for Moncton at 1:03 in the third period. With less than a minute left in the final frame, Laberge secured the game winning goal at 19:21 to defeat the Wildcats. Alexandre Lallier and Buteau had the assist.
Larsen was named the third Star of the Game, and Pekarcik the second star. Titan netminder Josh Fleming – who denied 44 of Moncton’s 45 shots on goal – was named the first Star of the Game.
