GAME RECAP: Titan close weekend with loss to Eagles
The Acadie-Bathurst Titan fell to the Cape Breton Eagles Saturday afternoon in Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League action. The visitors beat the home side 4-2 at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre. Bathurst won 3-1 against Cape Breton the previous night at home.
Goal scorers for Bathurst were Dawson Sharkey and Tyson Goguen. Goguen finished the night with two points, and Émile Perron, Mathieu St-Onge and Maddex Marmulak each had a point Saturday afternoon. Goal scorers for the Eagles were Cam Squires with a pair of goals, Romain L’Italien and Angelo Fullerton with one each.
L’Italien put the first point on the board at 4:44 in the first to take an early lead, with Squires scoring a short handed goal at 17:33 to bring the game 2-0 by the end of the period. In the second frame, Sharkey found the back of the net at 12:46 to edge Cape Breton 2-1 after 40 minutes of play. Less than two minutes into the third, Fullerton secured the game winner to widen the scoring gap 3-1 over Bathurst. Goguen scored at 15:25, before Squires’ insurance goal on the empty net at 18:53 to win the game 4-2.
Goguen was named the first Star of the Game, Squires was second and Marmulak was named third star.
Brandon Lavoie stopped 32 of Bathurst’s 34 shots on goal, and Josh Fleming stopped 35 of Cape’s 39 shots on net.

The Titan will travel to the Port City, Wednesday, Dec. 4 when they faceoff against the Saint John Sea Dogs.
Game time is 7 p.m. at TD Station.

Bathurst will host the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies Friday, Dec. 6 at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre.
