GAME RECAP: Big second period helps Titan snap four-game losing streak
Behind a roaring crowd and an offensive showcase, the Acadie-Bathurst Titan powered past the Québec Remparts 5-1 on Friday night at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre.
Alexandre Lallier opened the scoring five and a half minutes into the game, redirecting a Colby Huggan shot past goaltender Benjamin Lalièvre to give the Titan an early 1-0 lead.
The Titan took control in the second period with an offensive surge. Tyler Wood capitalized on a pass from Mavrick Brunet to notch his third goal of the season, doubling the lead. Bathurst electrified the crowd with three quick goals in under two minutes from Lallier, Wood, and Tyson Goguen, extending their lead to 5-0. Late in the frame, Antoine Doiron answered for the Remparts, cutting the deficit to 5-1.
The third period saw the intensity rise as both teams exchanged heated moments. Despite the mounting tension, Bathurst held firm, closing out the game to snap their four-game losing streak.
Goaltender Josh Fleming was stellar between the pipes, turning aside 26 shots to earn the victory. Biagio Jr. Daniele recorded two assists and was named the game’s third star. Alexandre Lallier and Tyler Wood earned second and first star honors, respectively, for their multi-goal performances.
