SAINT JOHN, N.B. <\/strong>\u2013 Rafa\u00ebl Courchesne stopped 24 of 25 in relief as the Saint John Sea Dogs dropped Game 3 against the Moncton Wildcats 6-0 at TD Station on Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n

Kuzma Voronin got the Wildcats on the board nine seconds into the first period, tucking the puck five-hole on Arseni Radkov. At 9:56, Alex Mercier finished a pass from Caleb Desnoyers to make it 2-0. Gavin Cornforth extended the lead to 3-0 at 10:34, where the period would close out.<\/p>\n

Moncton came out hot in the second with a goal from Simon Binkley at 2:23 and Voronin\u2019s second of the game at 6:02. Courchesne replaced Radkov in net after Voronin\u2019s goal.<\/p>\n

Preston Lounsbury picked the top corner at 12:35 of the third to extend the Wildcats\u2019 lead to 6-0 and cap off the scoring.<\/p>\n

MONCTON, N.B. <\/strong>\u2013 Arseni Radkov made 47 saves as the Saint John Sea Dogs suffered a 3-2 overtime loss to the Moncton Wildcats in Game 2 on Saturday night at Avenir Centre.<\/p>\n

After the first period, the game was tied 0-0, with the Wildcats outshooting the Sea Dogs 11-7.<\/p>\n

Radkov stopped 12 more shots in the second period for a total of 23, while Rudy Guimond turned aside all 16 shots he faced. It was 0-0 after two periods.<\/p>\n

Alex Donovan danced around a Wildcats defender before setting up Angelo Fullerton for a one-timer to break the deadlock at 4:52 of the third period. Zach Morin made it 2-0, picking his spot off the post and in on an odd-man rush at 9:46.<\/p>\n

The tide turned when Niko Tournas and Gabe Smith scored in the final minute to send the game to overtime.<\/p>\n

In overtime, Gavin Cornforth scored the winner to give Moncton a 3-2 victory and a 2-0 series lead over the Sea Dogs.<\/p>\n

MONCTON, N.B. <\/strong>\u2013 The Saint John Sea Dogs struck first Friday night in Game 1 of their first-round QMJHL playoff series against the Moncton Wildcats, but dropped a 5-1 decision at the Avenir Centre. Rafa\u00ebl Courchesne stood tall in net for the Sea Dogs, stopping 45 of 50 shots.<\/p>\n

Alex Donovan opened the scoring for Saint John at 16:44 of the first period on the power play, deflecting Alexis Joseph\u2019s shot from the high slot. The Sea Dogs carried a 1-0 lead into the intermission despite Moncton leading 13-7 in shots.<\/p>\n

The Wildcats took control in the second period with three straight goals. Gavin Cornforth tied the game at 5:18 and scored again at 6:45, with the second goal standing as the winner. Teddy Mutryn added a power-play marker at 10:50 to make it 3-1 for Moncton. The Wildcats outshot the Sea Dogs 30-12 through 40 minutes.<\/p>\n

In the third period, Gabe Smith scored on the power play at 9:42 before Cornforth completed his hat trick at 10:49 to close the scoring.<\/p>\n

SYDNEY, N.S. <\/strong>\u2013 Angelo Fullerton scored twice as the Saint John Sea Dogs rounded out the regular season with a 3-2 win over the Cape Breton Eagles on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Raoul Boilard picked the blocker-side top corner to give the Eagles an early 1-0 lead on the power play at 10:18. On the man advantage with less than two minutes left in the first, Angelo Fullerton beat Connor Towle with a wrist shot, with assists going to Alex Donovan and Everett Baldwin. The first period ended tied 1-1, with Saint John leading 12-8 in shots.<\/p>\n

At 1:07 of the second period, Fullerton scored his second when he tipped in Bo Damphousse\u2019s shot from the point. Saint John led 2-1 after two while outshooting Cape Breton 24-16.<\/p>\n

The Sea Dogs pulled ahead 3-1 four minutes into the third when Nolann H\u00e9roux scored on a drop pass from Matthew Krayer. Reece Peitzsche pulled the Eagles within one at 16:10 on the man advantage. Cape Breton pulled its goaltender at 18:10 but couldn\u2019t beat Rafa\u00ebl Courchesne.<\/p>\n

SYDNEY, N.S. <\/strong>\u2013 Two third period goals from Alex Donovan were not as enough as the Saint John Sea Dogs fell 4-2 to the Cape Breton Eagles at Centre 200 on Friday night.<\/p>\n

Lucas Romeo opened the scoring on the man advantage at 14:44 of the first, finding twine on a feed from Aiden McCullough. At 18:29, Raoul Boilard made it 2-0 with a wrist shot past Rafa\u00ebl Courchesne before the end of the period.<\/p>\n

The second period saw Cape Breton take three penalties, but Saint John couldn\u2019t capitalize. The Sea Dogs outshot the Eagles 12-7 in the frame.<\/p>\n

At 6:59 of the third, Alexis Joseph set up Everett Baldwin for a one-timer on the power play and Alex Donovan tucked the rebound past F\u00e9lix Hamel to get the Dogs within one. Romeo scored his second power play goal of the night at 12:14, tipping in Reece Peitzsche\u2019s point shot.
\nThe Dogs pulled their goalie at 16:26 for the extra attacker, and Donovan capitalized with his second of the night, tipping in Baldwin\u2019s shot again at 17:00. Still down by one, Saint John kept pushing, but Eliot Litalien found the empty net to close out the game.<\/p>\n

Will Shields opened the scoring for the Islanders at 8:44, beating MacPherson high glove side. Owen Conrad made it 2-0 at 15:32 to close out the first period.<\/p>\n

Just 43 seconds into the second, Shields scored his second of the night on the man advantage. With 19 seconds left in the period, he completed the hat trick to make it 4-0.<\/p>\n

Angelo Fullerton buried a one-timer past Donald Hickey on a feed from Cameron Chartrand on the power play at 5:02 of the third. Shields then potted his fourth of the night at 6:44 to seal a 5-1 win for the Islanders.<\/p>\n

Caylen Blake opened the scoring on the power play at 13:08 for Halifax. At 15:39, after an impressive backcheck, Nolann H\u00e9roux tucked one home at the other end, with assists going to Alexis Joseph and Alex Donovan. The first period ended tied 1-1, with Saint John outshooting Halifax 10-6.<\/p>\n

The second period saw both teams take two penalties, but no goals were scored. Saint John led 19-18 on the shot counter after two.<\/p>\n

Halifax pulled away in the third with goals from Quinn Kennedy and Shawn Carrier, then Liam Kilfoil scored on a penalty shot. Saint John got one back with 56 seconds left when Joseph scored his 24th of the season with the extra attacker. The Sea Dogs outshot Halifax 36-29 but dropped the final 4-2.<\/p>\n

SAINT JOHN, N.B. <\/strong>\u2013 The Saint John Sea Dogs dropped a tight 5-4 decision to the Halifax Mooseheads Friday night at TD Station.<\/p>\n

Halifax capitalized on early penalty trouble with goals from Caylen Blake and Samuel Rousseau at 5:01 and 7:25. Oleg Kulebiakin extended the Mooseheads\u2019 lead with 51 seconds left in the first, but Saint John answered with nine seconds remaining when Everett Baldwin toe-dragged and fired one past Owen Bresson on a feed from Dylan Rozzi.<\/p>\n

Liam Kilfoil jammed one past Arseni Radkov at 1:38 of the second to make it 4-1, but the Sea Dogs pushed back. Angelo Fullerton blasted a one-timer from Rozzi at 6:17, then struck again three minutes later on another one-timer, this time from Everett Baldwin and Olivier Groulx, to pull within one.<\/p>\n

Midway through the middle frame things got heated as goaltenders Radkov and Bresson dropped the gloves at center ice after the Mooseheads netminder hit a Sea Dogs player in the head his blocker after the whistle.<\/p>\n

Owen Phillips scored for Halifax at 14:58, but Rozzi tipped in a shot from Maxime C\u00f4t\u00e9 with 43 seconds left in the period on a delayed penalty to make it 5-4 after two.<\/p>\n

The third period was scoreless.<\/p>\n

MONCTON, N.B. <\/strong>\u2013 The Saint John Sea Dogs gave the Moncton Wildcats a scare on Sunday afternoon, but couldn\u2019t hold on to the early three-goal lead, falling 6-3 at the Avenir Centre.<\/p>\n

Saint John came out flying in the first. On the power play at 6:51, Zach Morin opened the scoring with a beautiful shot in close to beat Jacoby Weiner. Alexis Joseph made it 2-0 at 8:32 off a feed from Morin, and Nolann H\u00e9roux potted his first QMJHL goal at 9:47 on a breakaway to extend the lead. Moncton got on the board late with a power play goal at 17:33 but the Sea Dogs led 3-1 after one.<\/p>\n

The Wildcats flipped the game in the second with four unanswered goals. Kuzma Voronin scored at 1:42, Tommy Bleyl tied it at 4:57, and Caleb Desnoyers netted the eventual game-winner at 5:41. Niko Tournas added another power play marker at 6:36 to make it 5-3. Moncton carried a 35-19 shots edge after two.<\/p>\n

Preston Lounsbury sealed it with a shorthanded empty-netter at 19:59 of the third to close the scoring at 6-3.<\/p>\n

SAINT JOHN, N.B. <\/strong>\u2013 The Saint John Sea Dogs have added Darren Burns as senior advisor, hockey operations and assistant coach, the team announced Sunday.<\/p>\n

Burns recently completed his 25th season as head coach of the Acadia University Axemen hockey team and is a four-time AUS coach of the year. He also played for the Axemen from 1990-95 and was a member of the 1992-93 national championship-winning squad.<\/p>\n

\u201cDarren brings decades of hockey experience to the team,\u201d said Sea Dogs president and general manager Trevor Georgie. \u201cHe has been a coach, an NHL scout, and he knows our organization well as the father of Memorial Cup champion and franchise leading scorer Brady Burns. He is passionate and will add a lot to our group.\u201d<\/p>\n

A native of Brockville, Ont., Burns won a U SPORTS championship as an assistant coach with the Axemen in 1995-96 and guided the program to a bronze medal at the 2017 U SPORTS national championship tournament. He has also previously served as an assistant coach for the U SPORTS all-star team and won a gold medal as an assistant coach with Team Canada at the Universiade Games.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo get this opportunity to be with the Saint John Sea Dogs is incredible,\u201d said Burns. \u201cScott, Trevor and the entire organization have done so much for our family. It has proven to be the best place to play junior hockey in the country. They have created an environment that is second to none. To play a part in working with the current team is such a privilege and I will do everything I can to help this staff and players reach their goals. My past experience with this organization is all the motivation I need.\u201d<\/p>\n

With six games remaining, the Sea Dogs have clinched a spot in the 2026 Gilles-Courteau Trophy playoffs. They’ll play their final two home games of the regular season this Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14 against the Halifax Mooseheads.
