        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p data-start="112" data-end="358"><strong>CALGARY, Alberta</strong> – With the 2026 IIHF U18 Men’s World Championship fast approaching, Hockey Canada has announced a highly skilled and experienced group that will attend pre-tournament camp ahead of the event in Bratislava and Trenčín, Slovakia.</p>
<p data-start="360" data-end="791">A total of 20 out of the 23 players – including three goaltenders, six defencemen, and 11 forwards – from the Ontario Hockey League, Western Hockey League and Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League have been selected to form the core of Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team. The group was assembled by general manager Alan Millar and head scout Byron Bonora, alongside Hockey Canada’s high-performance staff and coaching personnel.</p>
<p data-start="793" data-end="1152">“Our group will continue to monitor the Canadian Hockey League playoffs, and we expect to add players prior to the start of the world championship,” Millar said. “At this time, we are pleased with the level of talent and international experience we have on our projected roster and are excited to gather in Slovakia in preparation to defend our gold medal.”</p>
<p data-start="1154" data-end="1447">This year’s roster features a strong foundation of international experience and success. Three players – Alessandro Di Iorio (Sarnia / OHL), Ryan Lin (Vancouver / WHL) and Western Hockey League alumnus Keaton Verhoeff are returning gold medallists from the 2025 squad.</p>
<p data-start="1449" data-end="1810">In addition, 11 players captured bronze at the 2025 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, including Gavin Betts (Kingston / OHL), Cameron Chartrand (Saint John / QMJHL), Carter Esler (Spokane / WHL), Jean-Cristoph Lemieux (Sudbury / OHL), Giorgos Pantelas (Brandon / WHL), Mathis Preston (Vancouver / WHL), Thomas Rousseau (Sherbrooke / QMJHL) and Dima Zhilkin (Saginaw / OHL).</p>
<p data-start="2039" data-end="2608">The 2026 IIHF U18 Men’s World Championship kicks off on April 22, with Canada taking on Slovakia, Latvia, Norway and Finland in the preliminary round before the tournament concludes with the medal games on May 2.</p>
<p data-start="2039" data-end="2608">TSN and RDS, the official broadcast partners of Hockey Canada, will broadcast 12 and 10 tournament games, respectively. TSN will broadcast all Team Canada preliminary-round games, as well as the quarterfinals, semifinals and medal games, while RDS will broadcast all Team Canada preliminary-round games, two quarterfinals, the semifinals and medal games.</p>

        <content:encoded><![CDATA[Former Saint John Sea Dogs defenceman William Villeneuve made his NHL debut with the Toronto Maple Leafs Saturday.

In a 6-2 loss to Florida, Villeneuve played 18:45 and recorded one block.

The second overall pick in the 2018 QMJHL Draft, Villeneuve played 216 games for the Sea Dogs and amassed 153 points, tied for the second most in team history by a blueliner.

In 2019-20 he led all Q d-men with 49 assists and 58 points while in his final season in 2021-22, he had 56 points in the regular season and league best +60 rating and then helped the Sea Dogs claim the Memorial Cup as hosts.

As a pro, the Sherbrooke, QC., native has made 224 appearances for the AHL's Toronto Marlies, the third most in team history by a defencemen, while his 119 points rank second.

Toronto selected the 24-year-old 122nd overall in the 2020 NHL Draft.

        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<strong>SAINT JOHN, N.B. </strong>– The Saint John Sea Dogs pushed back with three goals in the final 10 minutes but were unable to stave off elimination against the Moncton Wildcats on Wednesday night at TD Station.

The Cats jumped out to an early lead when Alex Mercier beat Arseni Radkov along the ice at 2:03. Gavin Cornforth scored his sixth of the series at 15:42 to make it 2-0 before the end of the first. With two seconds remaining in the period, Zach Morin took exception to a two-handed slash by Teddy Mutryn and went after the Wildcats forward at center ice, resulting in three penalties.

To open the second, Preston Lounsbury scored at 2:37 on his own rebound. At 15:53, Mutryn scored shorthanded, followed by Gabe Smith on the man advantage with 23 seconds left in the period as Moncton led 5-0 after two.

Lounsbury scored his second of the night at 2:52 of the third, tipping in Matthew Virgilio’s shot from the point. At 7:50, Kuzma Voronin broke in alone and beat Radkov blocker side to make it 7-0.

The Dogs didn’t go away quietly. Angelo Fullerton one-timed a pass from Alexis Joseph at 9:51 on the man advantage to end Rudy Guimond’s shutout bid. A minute later, Morin snapped one far side after Joseph won a battle along the boards to get him the puck. With just over a minute to play, Olivier Groulx ripped one home on a feed from Cameron Chartrand to close the game at 7-3.

        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<strong>SAINT JOHN, N.B. </strong>– Rafaël Courchesne stopped 24 of 25 in relief as the Saint John Sea Dogs dropped Game 3 against the Moncton Wildcats 6-0 at TD Station on Tuesday evening.

Kuzma Voronin got the Wildcats on the board nine seconds into the first period, tucking the puck five-hole on Arseni Radkov. At 9:56, Alex Mercier finished a pass from Caleb Desnoyers to make it 2-0. Gavin Cornforth extended the lead to 3-0 at 10:34, where the period would close out.

Moncton came out hot in the second with a goal from Simon Binkley at 2:23 and Voronin’s second of the game at 6:02. Courchesne replaced Radkov in net after Voronin’s goal.

Preston Lounsbury picked the top corner at 12:35 of the third to extend the Wildcats’ lead to 6-0 and cap off the scoring.

        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<strong>MONCTON, N.B. </strong>– Arseni Radkov made 47 saves as the Saint John Sea Dogs suffered a 3-2 overtime loss to the Moncton Wildcats in Game 2 on Saturday night at Avenir Centre.

After the first period, the game was tied 0-0, with the Wildcats outshooting the Sea Dogs 11-7.

Radkov stopped 12 more shots in the second period for a total of 23, while Rudy Guimond turned aside all 16 shots he faced. It was 0-0 after two periods.

Alex Donovan danced around a Wildcats defender before setting up Angelo Fullerton for a one-timer to break the deadlock at 4:52 of the third period. Zach Morin made it 2-0, picking his spot off the post and in on an odd-man rush at 9:46.

The tide turned when Niko Tournas and Gabe Smith scored in the final minute to send the game to overtime.

In overtime, Gavin Cornforth scored the winner to give Moncton a 3-2 victory and a 2-0 series lead over the Sea Dogs.

        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<strong>MONCTON, N.B. </strong>– The Saint John Sea Dogs struck first Friday night in Game 1 of their first-round QMJHL playoff series against the Moncton Wildcats, but dropped a 5-1 decision at the Avenir Centre. Rafaël Courchesne stood tall in net for the Sea Dogs, stopping 45 of 50 shots.

Alex Donovan opened the scoring for Saint John at 16:44 of the first period on the power play, deflecting Alexis Joseph’s shot from the high slot. The Sea Dogs carried a 1-0 lead into the intermission despite Moncton leading 13-7 in shots.

The Wildcats took control in the second period with three straight goals. Gavin Cornforth tied the game at 5:18 and scored again at 6:45, with the second goal standing as the winner. Teddy Mutryn added a power-play marker at 10:50 to make it 3-1 for Moncton. The Wildcats outshot the Sea Dogs 30-12 through 40 minutes.

In the third period, Gabe Smith scored on the power play at 9:42 before Cornforth completed his hat trick at 10:49 to close the scoring.

        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<strong>SYDNEY, N.S. </strong>– Angelo Fullerton scored twice as the Saint John Sea Dogs rounded out the regular season with a 3-2 win over the Cape Breton Eagles on Saturday.

Raoul Boilard picked the blocker-side top corner to give the Eagles an early 1-0 lead on the power play at 10:18. On the man advantage with less than two minutes left in the first, Angelo Fullerton beat Connor Towle with a wrist shot, with assists going to Alex Donovan and Everett Baldwin. The first period ended tied 1-1, with Saint John leading 12-8 in shots.

At 1:07 of the second period, Fullerton scored his second when he tipped in Bo Damphousse’s shot from the point. Saint John led 2-1 after two while outshooting Cape Breton 24-16.

The Sea Dogs pulled ahead 3-1 four minutes into the third when Nolann Héroux scored on a drop pass from Matthew Krayer. Reece Peitzsche pulled the Eagles within one at 16:10 on the man advantage. Cape Breton pulled its goaltender at 18:10 but couldn’t beat Rafaël Courchesne.

        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<strong>SYDNEY, N.S. </strong>– Two third period goals from Alex Donovan were not as enough as the Saint John Sea Dogs fell 4-2 to the Cape Breton Eagles at Centre 200 on Friday night.

Lucas Romeo opened the scoring on the man advantage at 14:44 of the first, finding twine on a feed from Aiden McCullough. At 18:29, Raoul Boilard made it 2-0 with a wrist shot past Rafaël Courchesne before the end of the period.

The second period saw Cape Breton take three penalties, but Saint John couldn’t capitalize. The Sea Dogs outshot the Eagles 12-7 in the frame.

At 6:59 of the third, Alexis Joseph set up Everett Baldwin for a one-timer on the power play and Alex Donovan tucked the rebound past Félix Hamel to get the Dogs within one. Romeo scored his second power play goal of the night at 12:14, tipping in Reece Peitzsche’s point shot.
The Dogs pulled their goalie at 16:26 for the extra attacker, and Donovan capitalized with his second of the night, tipping in Baldwin’s shot again at 17:00. Still down by one, Saint John kept pushing, but Eliot Litalien found the empty net to close out the game.

        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<strong>CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. </strong>– The Saint John Sea Dogs were defeated 5-1 by the Charlottetown Islanders on Sunday afternoon on the road. Sixteen-year-old rookie Jase MacPherson made 34 saves in his QMJHL debut between the pipes for the Dogs.

Will Shields opened the scoring for the Islanders at 8:44, beating MacPherson high glove side. Owen Conrad made it 2-0 at 15:32 to close out the first period.

Just 43 seconds into the second, Shields scored his second of the night on the man advantage. With 19 seconds left in the period, he completed the hat trick to make it 4-0.

Angelo Fullerton buried a one-timer past Donald Hickey on a feed from Cameron Chartrand on the power play at 5:02 of the third. Shields then potted his fourth of the night at 6:44 to seal a 5-1 win for the Islanders.

        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<strong>SAINT JOHN, N.B. </strong>– The Saint John Sea Dogs played their final home game of the regular season Saturday at TD Station in front of a sold-out crowd. A rough third period sank the Dogs as they fell 4-2 to the Halifax Mooseheads.

Caylen Blake opened the scoring on the power play at 13:08 for Halifax. At 15:39, after an impressive backcheck, Nolann Héroux tucked one home at the other end, with assists going to Alexis Joseph and Alex Donovan. The first period ended tied 1-1, with Saint John outshooting Halifax 10-6.

The second period saw both teams take two penalties, but no goals were scored. Saint John led 19-18 on the shot counter after two.

Halifax pulled away in the third with goals from Quinn Kennedy and Shawn Carrier, then Liam Kilfoil scored on a penalty shot. Saint John got one back with 56 seconds left when Joseph scored his 24th of the season with the extra attacker. The Sea Dogs outshot Halifax 36-29 but dropped the final 4-2.
