AUGER NAMED JANUARY’S TOP GOALIE, SECOND STAR
BOUCHERVILLE, PQ – The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League has announced Saint John Sea Dogs goaltender Sebastien Auger has been named the VAUGHN QMJHL Goaltender of the Month and second star for January.
The 19-year-old native of St-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Quebec, played twelve games last month, posting a 6-5-0-1 record with a 2.61 goals-against average, a .933 save percentage and two shutouts.
He was selected in the game’s three stars six times, including two first star nods.
The highlight of the month came on Friday, January 31st, when the third-year Sea Dog kicked aside 53 shots in a 2-0 victory against the Val-d’Or Foreurs at Centre Air Creebec.
The victory gave Auger 50 in his QMJHL career, tying him with Mathieu Corbeil for top spot on the Sea Dogs’ all-time goaltender wins list.
It was his second shutout in three games after blanking the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 4-0 on Sunday, January 26th, at Harbour Station. He made 32 stops.
Auger was also named the VAUGHN QMJHL Goaltender of the Month and second star in September.
