Sea Dogs invite seven free agents to training camp
SAINT JOHN – Saint John Sea Dogs general manager Anthony Stella announced on Tuesday that the team has invited seven free agents to training camp.
Forwards Cameron Lowe, Samuel Assinewai, Colby Morin, Darien Reynolds, and Kency Pierre-Noel along with defenceman Jordan Vidicek and goaltender Sebastian Monaco are all expected to attend the team’s 2023 training camp in August.
Lowe, 19, was a seventh-round pick of the Erie Otters in 2020. The Niagara Falls, Ontario native played 51 games with the Otters before joining the St. Catharines Falcons of the GOJHL this season where he totaled 34 points in 23 games.
Assinewai, 19, spent this past season with the NOJHL’s Greater Sudbury Cubs registering 45 points in 33 games. The product of Little Current, Ontario also played 46 games with the Flint Firebirds over the previous two seasons.
Morin is a product of Grand Falls, New Brunswick and a former sixth-round pick of the Cape Breton Eagles. The 17-year-old winger had seven points in 28 games with the Edmundston Blizzard this season.
Reynolds, a native of Sydney, Nova Scotia, posted 35 points in 32 games with the Sydney Rush in the Nova Scotia U18 Major Hockey League. The 17-year-old also suited up for one game with the Amherst Ramblers in the MHL.
Pierre-Noel, 19, is a former draft pick of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. In 39 games with the Montreal-Est Rangers this season the Le Gardeur, Quebec product notched 41 points.
Vidicek, 16, is the younger brother of Halifax Mooseheads forward Markus Vidicek and played for the Lac St-Louis Lions U17 AAA this season registering five points in 30 games.
Monaco spent the 2022-23 season with the North York Rangers in the OJHL and posted a 10-12-1 record with a .899 save percentage and a goals-against-average of 3.77. The 18-year-old netminder was a seventh-round pick of the Kitchener Rangers in 2021.
