Sea Dogs announce player development partnership with JH Sports
SAINT JOHN – The Saint John Sea Dogs have announced the addition of Jamie Heffernan and Sam King of JH Sports as Player Development Consultants.
“We’re happy to be part of the Sea Dogs player development team, and excited to contribute to the growth of the game for the next generation of Sea Dogs players,” said Heffernan.
Heffernan, the owner and operator of JH Sports, has worked in player development with teams in both the National Hockey League and American Hockey League while King is a former player at the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League and USPORTS level, including with the UNB Reds where he won a national championship.
“We are incredibly excited to add Jamie and Sam as player development consultants,” said Sea Dogs Head Coach & General Manager Travis Crickard. “Jamie brings a wealth of experience to our team that will help our players become more athletic and mechanically efficient. Sam is a former player in the QMJHL and a USPORTS National Champion who uses his experiences to aid our players habitual development.”
JH Sports aims to provide players with small group ice sessions, allowing coaches the ability to keep a keen eye on players’ habits both good and bad, and providing them the necessary information and technique to improve their own game. Ice sessions include skating/edge work mastery, shooting, and positional based skills training.
“Striving to be first in class in player development we believe that adding Jamie and Sam to our team will help our players continue to get better everyday,” added Crickard.
