RECAP: Seymour’s hat trick powers Sea Dogs past Cataractes
SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Jabez Seymour was the story on Saturday night at TD Station, scoring all three goals for the Saint John Sea Dogs in a 3-2 overtime win over the Shawinigan Cataractes. Rafaël Courchesne earned first star stopping 32 of 34 shots.
Alexis Joseph forced a turnover at 11:34 of the first before finding Seymour, who scored his first since joining the Sea Dogs.
The second period was scoreless despite both teams getting power play opportunities.
In the third, Jiri Klima tied the game on the man advantage at 2:03, then scored again at 8:31 to give Shawinigan a 2-1 lead. With just 25 seconds left, Olivier Groulx put the puck out front for Seymour to tie it 2-2.
At 3:37 of overtime, Joseph dropped the puck to Seymour, who fired a wrist shot to complete his first career hat trick and win it for Saint John.
