RECAP: Sea Dogs lead late but Wildcats rally for 3-2 overtime win
MONCTON, N.B. – Arseni Radkov made 47 saves as the Saint John Sea Dogs suffered a 3-2 overtime loss to the Moncton Wildcats in Game 2 on Saturday night at Avenir Centre.
After the first period, the game was tied 0-0, with the Wildcats outshooting the Sea Dogs 11-7.
Radkov stopped 12 more shots in the second period for a total of 23, while Rudy Guimond turned aside all 16 shots he faced. It was 0-0 after two periods.
Alex Donovan danced around a Wildcats defender before setting up Angelo Fullerton for a one-timer to break the deadlock at 4:52 of the third period. Zach Morin made it 2-0, picking his spot off the post and in on an odd-man rush at 9:46.
The tide turned when Niko Tournas and Gabe Smith scored in the final minute to send the game to overtime.
In overtime, Gavin Cornforth scored the winner to give Moncton a 3-2 victory and a 2-0 series lead over the Sea Dogs.
