RECAP: Sea Dogs held scoreless in loss to Voltigeurs
SAINT JOHN – The Saint John Sea Dogs suffered their fifth-straight loss Wednesday evening against the Western Conference-leading Drummondville Voltigeurs at TD Station. They were unable to solve goaltender Riley Mercer and ultimately lost 3-0.
Justin Larose, Ethan Gauthier, and Yan Gaudreau found the back of the net for the visitors.
GAME SUMMARY
The Voltigeurs came out blazing with Luke Woodworth sending Justin Larose on a breakaway where he beat Charles-Édward Gravel just over a minute into the match. The Drummondville squad struck again, this time on the powerplay, at 14:30 when Woodworth set up Ethan Gauthier who sniped it glove side, taking the lead 2-0.
The second period held both teams scoreless with the Sea Dogs recording three shots and the Voltigeurs putting up 13.
With less than three minutes remaining in the third period, Yan Gaudreau fired a wrist shot from the point that beat Gravel, setting the final score at 3-0.
