RECAP: Sea Dogs bounce back with shutout win over Islanders
SAINT JOHN – Charles-Édward Gravel recorded his league-leading third shutout of the season, stopping all 29 shots to lead the Saint John Sea Dogs to a 2-0 win over the Charlottetown Islanders on Saturday night.
Olivier Duhamel provided all the offense the Sea Dogs needed, scoring both goals at TD Station as the Sea Dogs pushed their record to 12-13-0-0.
GAME SUMMARY
After an offence-filled game the night before, it was a defensive opening 20 minutes as the Sea Dogs and the Islanders went to the intermission tied at zero.
Saint John broke the deadlock 12:02 into the second period when Olivier Duhamel broke past a defender and went in alone, beating Nicolas Ruccia with a well-placed shot to put the Dogs up 1-0. The score would remain that way through 40 minutes of play.
In a last-minute push, the Islanders pulled their goalie, but Duhamel capitalized with an empty-net goal to seal the game at 2-0 for the Sea Dogs.
