RECAP: Robinson shines with 38 saves as Sea Dogs topple Mooseheads
HALIFAX, NS – Justin Robinson stood tall for the Saint John Sea Dogs with an impressive 38 saves in a 4-1 victory over the Halifax Mooseheads at the Scotiabank Centre on Sunday afternoon.
It was a tight game until Zach Morin scored two empty-net goals in the final minutes. Dylan Rozzi’s tenth of the season stood as the game-winner, while Tyler Peddle was the other goal scorer for the Dogs.
William Bent scored the lone goal for Halifax.
GAME SUMMARY
Neither team could find the back of the net in the first period, though it wasn’t due to lack of chances. Sea Dogs goaltender Justin Robinson stopped all 18 shots he faced while Jacob Steinman turned away 11 of his own.
With five minutes to play in the second period, Shawn Carrier sent William Bent in alone where he deked around Justin Robinson, knocking off Robinson’s glove in the process, to give Halifax the lead. However, Saint John defenceman Benjamin Amyot slipped the puck to Tyler Peddle for a one-timer, tying the game at 1-1 with 33 seconds remaining in the period.
13:08 into the third period, Amyot sent a shot-pass directly to Dylan Rozzi’s stick, who tipped it under a sliding Steinman, giving the 2-1 lead to the Dogs. Zach Morin scored two empty net goals for the Sea Dogs at 18:29 and 18:51 to finalize the score at 4-1.
