RECAP: Late goal sinks Sea Dogs in Bathurst
BATHURST, NB – The Saint John Sea Dogs played a tightly contested game Saturday night suffering a 2-1 defeat against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre. The Sea Dogs record now sits at 11-12-0-0.
The lone goal scorer for Saint John was Tyler Peddle. Acadie-Bathurst’s goals came from Tyler Wood and Louis-Francois Belanger.
GAME SUMMARY
The Titan struck first late in the opening period as Tyler Wood displayed some slick stickwork out front after being set up by David-Alexandre Coulombe, burying the game’s first goal at 16:55. Acadie-Bathurst took that 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
Saint John appeared to have evened the score early in the middle frame on a goal from Eriks Mateiko, but following a review the goal was called back due to an offside.
Two minutes into the third period, Tyler Peddle went coast-to-coast, maneuvering through the Titan defense and beating Joshua Fleming to tie the game at 1-1 on the powerplay. At the 15:11 mark, Louis-François Bélanger fired a shot over Charles-Édward Gravel’s shoulder to reclaim the lead for Acadie-Bathurst and seal their 2-1 victory.
