RECAP: Joseph scores twice in overtime loss to Mooseheads
HALIFAX, N.S. – Alexis Joseph led a third-period charge for the Saint John Sea Dogs with two short-handed goals Thursday night, but the Halifax Mooseheads prevailed 4-3 in overtime after a hard-fought battle.
Despite Saint John outshooting Halifax 14-6 in the first, the only goal belonged to the Mooseheads thanks to Amelio Santini.
The home side doubled the lead late in the second when Caylen Blake scored at 17:41.
Joseph took matters into his own hands with a short-handed marker two minutes into the third. Less than a minute later, Zach Morin tied it 2-2 by burying Egan Beveridge’s rebound. Halifax answered at 7:03 with Santini’s second of the night, but Joseph responded short-handed again, ripping a wrist shot inside the post to make it 3-3.
The game went to overtime and ended in just nine seconds on the first shot, finished by Mooseheads defenceman Eddy Doyle.
