RECAP: Hot start not enough in loss to Wildcats
MONCTON, N.B. – The Saint John Sea Dogs got off to a hot start with two goals in the opening 2:19, but the Moncton Wildcats answered in waves and pulled away late, taking it 7-4 on Wednesday night at the Avenir Centre.
Saint John struck first at 1:54 when Angelo Fullerton finished a low feed from Alex Donovan. Just 25 seconds later, Olivier Groulx ripped home a one-timer off Fullerton’s touch to make it 2-0. Moncton clawed back with two before the break to send it to the intermission even, 2–2.
The second period tilted toward the home side. Moncton scored twice to open a 4-2 lead, but the Dogs answered at 17:57 when Alexis Joseph pulled off a highlight-reel between the legs deke before beating Jacoby Weiner to cut it to one heading to the third.
An early Wildcats strike restored the two-goal gap and they added another to make it 6-3. Dylan Rozzi gave Saint John life at 15:58, with assists to Nolann Héroux and Joseph, but an insurance marker sealed it for Moncton.
