RECAP: Fullerton leads Sea Dogs past Eagles in regular season finale
SYDNEY, N.S. – Angelo Fullerton scored twice as the Saint John Sea Dogs rounded out the regular season with a 3-2 win over the Cape Breton Eagles on Saturday.
Raoul Boilard picked the blocker-side top corner to give the Eagles an early 1-0 lead on the power play at 10:18. On the man advantage with less than two minutes left in the first, Angelo Fullerton beat Connor Towle with a wrist shot, with assists going to Alex Donovan and Everett Baldwin. The first period ended tied 1-1, with Saint John leading 12-8 in shots.
At 1:07 of the second period, Fullerton scored his second when he tipped in Bo Damphousse’s shot from the point. Saint John led 2-1 after two while outshooting Cape Breton 24-16.
The Sea Dogs pulled ahead 3-1 four minutes into the third when Nolann Héroux scored on a drop pass from Matthew Krayer. Reece Peitzsche pulled the Eagles within one at 16:10 on the man advantage. Cape Breton pulled its goaltender at 18:10 but couldn’t beat Rafaël Courchesne.
