RECAP: Coursol hat trick sinks Sea Dogs at TD Station
SAINT JOHN, N.B. – The Saint John Sea Dogs got off to an explosive start in their last home game of October, but the visiting Val-d’Or Foreurs turned the tides in the second period en route to a 7-3 victory Saturday night at TD Station.
It was a high-scoring first period, initiated by Dylan Rozzi scooping up a loose puck and picking the top corner just a minute in. At 6:55, Olivier Groulx scored off a Foreurs giveaway in front of their own net. The Foreurs responded quickly with two of their own at 8:43 and 13:51 from Maxime Coursol and Mavrik Duhamine to tie it 2-2.
At 14:18, William Yared set up Angelo Fullerton with a wide-open net to put the Dogs up 3-2. Just 41 seconds later, Samuel Fiala tied it 3-3 to wrap up the first period. Shots favoured Saint John 14-8 after one.
The Foreurs took the lead five minutes into the second on a goal by Phillippe Veilleux. Rafaël Courchesne replaced Justin Robinson in net for the Sea Dogs at that point. At 11:48, Fiala scored his second of the game, this time shorthanded. With 11 seconds left in the period, Coursol made it 6-3. Saint John still led on the shot clock 22-16 after two.
With five minutes to play, Coursol completed his hat trick, finalizing a 7–3 result for the Foreurs, despite being outshot by the home team 37-26.
