RECAP: Courchesne steady in relief, but Moncton takes game three
SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Rafaël Courchesne stopped 24 of 25 in relief as the Saint John Sea Dogs dropped Game 3 against the Moncton Wildcats 6-0 at TD Station on Tuesday evening.
Kuzma Voronin got the Wildcats on the board nine seconds into the first period, tucking the puck five-hole on Arseni Radkov. At 9:56, Alex Mercier finished a pass from Caleb Desnoyers to make it 2-0. Gavin Cornforth extended the lead to 3-0 at 10:34, where the period would close out.
Moncton came out hot in the second with a goal from Simon Binkley at 2:23 and Voronin’s second of the game at 6:02. Courchesne replaced Radkov in net after Voronin’s goal.
Preston Lounsbury picked the top corner at 12:35 of the third to extend the Wildcats’ lead to 6-0 and cap off the scoring.
