RECAP: Armada hand Sea Dogs fourth-straight loss
SAINT JOHN – The Sea Dogs suffered a fourth-straight defeat at the hands of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada on Wednesday at TD Station. Despite a strong push in the final minutes, the damage was done, and Blainville-Boisbriand took this one 6-2.
Six different players scored for the visitors with Eliot Litalien, Rafaël Cloutier, Justin Carbonneau, Olivier Lemieux, Ludovik Grenier, and Egor Goriunov all finding the back of the net.
Reid Calder and Zach Morin were the goal scorers for Saint John.
GAME SUMMARY
Just 7:06 into the game, Matt Gosselin set up Eliot Litalien to sneak the puck short side on Justin Robinson, giving the Armada a 1-0 lead. With four minutes left in the first, after a blocked shot by Sea Dogs captain Nate Tivey, Brayden Besner slipped the puck to Rafaël Cloutier, who fired it past Robinson’s glove to make it 2-0.
Félix Hamel misplayed the puck behind his net, and Reid Calder capitalized, swiping it away and burying it into the open cage at 7:56 of the second to cut the deficit to 2-1.
On the power play at 10:54, Justin Carbonneau finished off a give-and-go play with Vincent Desjardins to restore the two-goal lead for the Armada. With less than two minutes remaining in the second, Lemieux deflected Desjardins’ hard pass past Robinson for another power-play goal, making it 4-1.
1:44 into the third, Zach Morin intercepted a pass, weaved through two Armada defenders, and slid the puck five-hole on Hamel to bring the Sea Dogs within two. Later in the frame Ludovik Grenier was taken down on a breakaway and converted on the resulting penalty shot to put the Armada up 5-2. Egor Goriunov sealed the game at 6-2, finishing off a setup from Desjardins and Carbonneau at 14:30.
