RECAP: Amyot scores first goal in Sea Dogs loss to Islanders
CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI – Struggles continued for the Saint John Sea Dogs as they dropped their fourth consecutive game Saturday night, falling to the Charlottetown Islanders 5-1.
Benjamin Amyot scored the lone goal for Saint John, the first of his QMJHL career. The Islanders goal scorers were Marcus Kearsey, Maxwell Jardine, Jabez Seymour, Simon Hughes, and Nathan Leek.
GAME SUMMARY
The Islanders opened the scoring at 6:26 of the first period when Ross Campbell dropped the puck to Marcus Kearsey, who skated behind the Sea Dogs net and executed a wrap-around. Just two minutes later, Jude Herron found Maxwell Jardine, who scored his first of the season, prompting a goaltending change as Charles-Édward Gravel was replaced by Justin Robinson.
A little over a minute into the second period, Jabez Seymour capitalized on a rebound from Kyle Powers to extend the Islanders lead to 3-0. Simon Hughes added another for Charlottetown at 4:01, pushing the lead to 4-0.
The Sea Dogs offense showed a spark at 6:01 when William Yared sent the puck back to Benjamin Amyot, who fired a wrist shot from the point for his first goal of the season, cutting the deficit to 4-1.
At 12:48 in the third period, Brayden Stumpf set up Nathan Leek from behind the net, sealing the game at 5-1 for the Islanders.
