RECAP: Radkov shines but Sea Dogs offence falls flat in loss to Drakkar
FREDERICTON, N.B. – The Sea Dogs wrapped up the three-game Capital City Series falling 2-0 to the Baie-Comeau Drakkar at the Aitken Centre on Sunday afternoon.
Saint John carried plenty of the play and volume, firing 39 shots, but Baie-Comeau’s Samuel Caulfield turned aside every one for the shutout and first star.
Baie-Comeau broke the ice late in the first when Liam Armit finished a rebound at 16:23. The game stayed tight through a scoreless second, with the Dogs pushing and generating looks around the blue paint.
An insurance marker from Jacopo De Luca at 14:01 of the third made it 2-0, which held up the rest of the way despite a final Saint John surge.
Montreal Canadiens prospect Arseni Radkov was sharp for the Dogs, stopping 29 of 31 and earning second star of the game.
