Regiment Extend Hockey Operations Staff
ST. JOHN’S, N.L. — The Newfoundland Regiment announced today that the club has extended the contracts of its entire Hockey Operations department, with Head Coach and General Manager Gordie Dwyer signed through 2030 and the balance of the department under contract through the 2027-28 season.
The extensions keep the group that has guided the club’s day-to-day hockey operation intact. The department under contract:
- Gordie Dwyer — Head Coach and General Manager (through 2030)
- Rory Dynan — Assistant Coach (through 2027-28)
- Dylan Beston — Assistant Coach (through 2027-28)
- Matthew Smith — Director of Hockey Operations and Video Coach (through 2027-28)
- Aaron Small — Head Athletic Therapist (through 2027-28)
- Tyler Jay — Head Equipment Manager (through 2027-28)
Dwyer, who oversees both the bench and the club’s roster construction, will continue to lead the department under the longest term of any member of the group, working alongside assistant coaches Dynan and Beston. Smith continues to direct hockey operations and the club’s video program, while Small and Jay return to lead the medical and equipment staffs respectively.
“Continuity matters in this business, and this group has earned it,” said Regiment President Glenn Stanford. “Gordie and his staff have built a standard here that our players and our fans can see every night. Having Gordie signed through 2030 and this entire department together gives our organization the stability it needs to keep growing, and it sends a clear message about the direction we’re headed.”
The Regiment return to the ice at Mary Brown’s Centre this week for a pair of home games against the Saint John Sea Dogs on Friday, September 18 and Saturday, September 19. Tickets for both games are available now at tickets.nlregiment.com.
