Newfoundland Regiment Unveils Official Jersey Design
St. John’s, Newfoundland – June 6, 2025 – The Newfoundland Regiment Hockey Club, a proud member of the Quebec Maritime Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), is excited to reveal its official jersey design for the 2025-26 season. This striking new sweater pays homage to the team’s deep Newfoundland roots while setting the stage for an unforgettable inaugural season.
A Design Rooted in Tradition
The jersey showcases a rich navy blue base, complemented by maroon and white accents that create a dynamic and eye-catching aesthetic. At its heart lies the commanding caribou head logo, a nod to the badge of The Royal Newfoundland Regiment of the First and Second World War, originally inspired by the Newfoundland Highlanders, a paramilitary cadet corps formed in 1907. Below the logo, the word “NEWFOUNDLAND” stretches across a white banner, a bold declaration of the team’s unwavering connection to its community and heritage.
Honouring Leadership and Legacy
The jersey’s shoulder patches are a standout feature, reflecting the team’s commitment to tradition and leadership. Both shoulders patches display a distinguished shield that elevates the design further, featuring two chevrons topped with a crown. This patch is more than a stylistic choice—it symbolizes the honor, responsibility, and leadership carried by the team’s players, connecting the modern roster to the Regiment’s historic values of courage and unity. Together, these shoulder patches transform the jersey into a powerful emblem of pride and excellence.
Voices of Pride
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to introduce this jersey to our fans,” said Glenn Stanford, President of the Newfoundland Regiment Hockey Club. “It’s a powerful symbol of who we are—a team built on tradition, resilience, and a relentless drive for excellence. We can’t wait to see it worn with pride during our home opener at Mary Brown’s Centre on September 18th.”
During today’s reveal at the QMJHL entry draft, a sublimated version of the jersey was presented to showcase the design. However, the final jerseys that the players will wear during the season will feature fully crested logos and patches, ensuring a high-quality, traditional finish with each element applied as separate, embroidered patches.
