GAME DAY: Ready for the 3rd bubble duel # 2
The Phoenix faces the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies for the third time this season tonight at 7 p.m. The Sherbrooke team will be looking for its first victory in the protected environment of the Marcel-Dionne center.
Indeed, the Phoenix recorded a pair of losses in its first two meetings in Drummondville. They first lost 6-3 to the Voltigeurs and then came up short against the Armada. Stéphane Julien’s boys managed to keep the Armada at one goal for more than 2 periods and then showed a lot of character in the final third, scoring 2 goals in the final 3 minutes. Unfortunately for the team, it was too little, too late. Conversely, the pack has had a perfect run so far in the bubble. They had a solid comeback on Saturday against the Armada to come away with a 6-5 victory. The next day, they posted a win over the Voltigeurs by a 5-2 score.
Since the start of the bubble, Charles-Edouard Drouin has lifted his record with no less than 5 points and William Rouleau has added 4. For the Phoenix, Israel Mianscum and Joshua Roy both found the back of the net twice. For his part, Xavier Parent has 3 points. Samuel Hlavaj remains the player who has distinguished himself the most for the Birds since their arrival in Drummondville. The Slovak goalie obtained a star in each of his outings.
Will the Phoenix opt for him again to ensure the backside ? Remember that Stéphane Julien now has three goalies in his ranks: Samuel Hlavaj, Jasmin Simon and Jacob Robillard.
