GAME DAY: Phoenix faces Armada for 5th time this season !
After two days of inaction for the Phoenix in the protected environment of the Gervais-Auto Center, it’s time to get back on the ice. Stéphane Julien’s men will face the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada for a 5th time this season. Indeed, the two teams crossed swords twice during the opening weekend and then met again, in the last “bubble” held in Drummondville. All four clashes ended in defeat for the Phoenix. Fact, the Armada has been one of the three powers of the Courteau circuit since the start of the season. They have been at the top of the standings but, were downgraded this week: the Foreurs took over the lead and the Charlottetown Islanders follow closely behind.
In fact, this all happened in the protected environment in Shawinigan. So far, the Armada has played two games, both losses against the Val-D’Or Foreurs. The Abitibi troop, therefore, climbed the ranks of the overall standings by bringing defeating the Blacks and Whites. This means the Armada will be chasing their first victory in the 3rd “bubble” after these 2 losses to the Foreurs.
For their part, the Phoenix will try to create the spark that will allow them to a second consecutive victory. Remember that the Birds achieved their second victory of the season last Saturday, by defeating the Shawinigan Cataractes. The day before, the Sherbrooke team had fought well, at least for the first 40 minutes of play. They then saw the Cataractes come back from behind by 3 goals to win in overtime. The Phoenix has therefore added to its record 3 points since arriving in Shawinigan.
To successfully defeat the Armada, the Phoenix will need to be hungry but, also disciplined. Note that this indiscipline allowed the power of Montreal’s North Shore to score some goals in previous matchups.
