Bubble #3: The Phoenix surprise the Armada !
The Phoenix surprised the mighty Armada tonight at the Gervais Auto Center, as they recorded a second straight win for the first time this season. Stéphane Julien’s men stood up to their opponents, going so far as to bombard the opposing goalkeeper with 39 shots. They walk away with a 4-2 victory.
The game begins and the Armada is the first team to get on the scoresheet. Yaroslav Likhachev (Miguël Tourigny and Christopher Merisier-Ortiz) is left alone directly in front of netminder Samuel Hlavaj. Likhachev threads the needle to make it 1-0. Less than a minute later, Anthony Munroe-Boucher (Alexandre Blanchard and Milo Roelens) recovers a loose puck to create the tie. Xavier Parent then gave the lead to his team, skillfully fueled by Joshua Roy on the power play.
It’s 2-1 Sherbrooke and it will stay that way until the start of the third period. Quickly at the start of the last third, Joshua Roy (Xavier Parent and Julien Anctil) doubles the Birds lead. The Armada is starting to play more robustly but, that doesn’t stop Israel Mianscum (Justin Gill and Charles Tremblay) from making it 4-1. At the end of the game, Miguël Tourigny (Simon Pinard) narrowed the gap without much celebration. Final score : Sherbrooke 4 – Blainville-Boisbriand 2.
