Major Trade Deadline Deal for the Phœnix
A few hours before the end of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s (QMJHL) trade deadline, Sherbrooke Phœnix general manager Jocelyn Thibault made a significant trade with the Rimouski Océanic. Sherbrooke has acquired 20-year-old forward Anthony Chapados, 17-year-old goaltender Charles-Antoine Poirier-Turcot and a 5th round pick in 2017 in exchange for goaltender Alexandre Lagacé.
6-foot-3, 190-pound Chapados gained a great deal of experience last season, helping the Rimouski Océanic to win the President Cup. Charles-Antoine Poirier-Turcot is in his first season in the QMJHL.
“The Phœnix is very pleased to acquire former Rimouski Océanic captain Anthony Chapados and goaltender Charles-Antoine Poirier-Turcot. Chapados becomes our third 20-year-old player and he will bring a leadership presence to the team. Poirier-Turcot will complete our goaltending duo, along with Evan Fitzpatrick. We would like to thank Alexandre Lagacé for his outstanding service to our organization,” concluded Thibault.
