Jan Golicic named captain
GATINEAU – The Gatineau Olympiques organization announced Thursday that defenseman Jan Golicic has been named captain.
Golicic succeeds Jérémie Minville as captain of the Olympiques. Jérémie Dumas-Larouche, Justin Boisselle, Maxim Dubé, and Simon-Xavier Cyr will serve as alternate captains.
The defenseman, originally from Jesenice, Slovenia, is in his third season with the Gatineau Olympiques. Since his QMJHL debut in the 2023-2024 season, the 6-foot-5 giant has established himself as a defensive stalwart for the team. He was also a fourth-round pick (118th overall) by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2024 NHL Draft.
We are very proud of our group of leaders. Jan has been an example to his teammates since joining the team. His commitment to the organization is unquestionable. The presence and confidence he brings to our young players are unequivocal.“ – Serge Beausoleil, General Manager.
”Jan brings a lot of leadership both on and off the ice. He has become not only a pillar of our defense, but also a professional in the way he conducts himself on a daily basis. He perfectly represents the culture we are trying to implement here in Gatineau. He will certainly be in good company with quality players such as Cyr, Dumas-Larouche, Dubé, and Boisselle.” – Alexis Loiseau, Head Coach.
