Game Recap – March 7th
It was the last game for Louis Robitaille’s lineup in Gatineau’s protected environment and, for the third time, the Sherbrooke Phoenix were their opponents of the day.
After just under five minutes of play, Phoenix defenseman Christophe Rondeau was fined for checking Zach Dean from behind. The Olympiques forward then made the move to benefit himself from this penalty with a top shot from the circle to open the score.
The goal gave the Gatineau players rhythm who continued to apply pressure but the Phoenix goalkeeper Jakob Robillard made good saves and kept his team in the game. With less than five minutes left, the Phoenix thanked their goaltender with a power-play goal from Anthony Munroe-Boucher to go 1-1.
2nd period
The Phoenix hit early in the period. By applying strong pressure at the back of the territory, Anthony Munroe-Boucher sent the puck to the net which Milo Roelens deflected in passing to give his team the lead.
The remainder of the period was all about Sherbrooke goalkeeper Jakob Robillard who made some big saves, preventing the Olympiques from leveling the game. Both teams also enjoyed a power play during this period.
3rd period

This constant pressure finally paid off for the Olympiques when Antonin Verreault intercepted a pass from goalie Robillard before handing it over to Alexei Prokopenko who scored between the goalie’s pads, making it a tie game at 2-2.
Overtime
The game then moved into overtime where both teams had good scoring chances. Justin Gill finally made the difference for the Phoenix to give them the win, 3-2.
