Your Halifax Mooseheads have released the 2026 Preseason Schedule which will see the team participate in six games. Halifax will begin the summer schedule on home ice at the RBC Centre in Dartmouth against the Cape Breton Eagles at 6pm on Friday, August 21st. Other home games include a matchup versus Charlottetown at the Zatzman Sportsplex in Dartmouth at 7pm on Wednesday, August 26th and a battle against Saint John at 7pm on Friday, September 11th at the RBC Centre.<\/p>\n

The 2026-27 Regular Season Schedule is expected to be announced in the coming days. Mooseheads Season Memberships<\/a><\/span> are on sale now while Half-Season Memberships<\/span><\/a> will become available later this summer.<\/p>\n

The first ever QMJHL Entry Draft to be held on Halifax soil did not disappoint over the weekend at Scotiabank Centre with plenty of big trades announced across the league and future stars in attendance. The hometown Mooseheads made their share of noise too, by trading the third overall pick<\/span><\/a> as part of a package to land 19-year-old Mateo Nobert from Blainville-Boisbriand before picking forward Emrik M\u00e9nard<\/strong><\/span><\/a> with the seventh overall selection.<\/p>\n

Halifax made 14 picks in the two-day draft and chose seven forwards, four defencemen and three goaltenders. The club also set a team and league record for most Americans taken in one draft by selecting eight players from south of the border. A sign of the rapidly evolving environment in the Canadian Hockey League.<\/p>\n

M\u00e9nard, who celebrated his 16th birthday on Sunday, missed most of last season with a shoulder injury but is now fully recovered and will be ready for training camp in August. The forward played for both the Woodbridge Wolfpack in New Jersey and the Connecticut Jr Rangers, scoring 16 points in eight games. He led the QMAAA15 league in scoring in 2024-25 with 70 points in 30 games.<\/p>\n

Saturday saw rounds 2 through 12 take place at Scotiabank Centre with the Mooseheads featuring prominently into the second round with three picks. General Manager Cam Russell nabbed Nova Scotia native Jack Cameron<\/span><\/strong> early in the day with the 20th overall selection. The defenceman from Stellarton, NS was the 15th ranked skater and third highest ranked blueliner by QMJHL Central Scouting after cracking the NSU18MHL All Rookie Team with Pictou County. Cameron scored 19 points in 22 regular season games before adding another seven in the playoffs.<\/p>\n

Russell was equally as excited to snag rugged forward Maveric Thisdelle<\/span><\/strong> of Gatineau, QC five picks later. The 6-foot-1, 181 pound right winger was a teammate of M\u00e9nard in Woodbridge and quickly caught the attention of the Mooseheads staff on scouting trips for his tenacious style of play. He produced 25 points in 25 games in 2025-26.<\/p>\n

Highly skilled forward Jack Queally<\/strong><\/span> was next up with the 33rd overall pick. The Milton, MA native has already committed to the U17 US National Development Program after standout seasons with both St Sebastien’s School and the NV River Rats where he led both teams in scoring – combining for 87 points in 59 games. That pick started a run on five consecutive Americans which included 19-year-old goalie Jack\u00a0Fichthorn<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0who was a teammate of Queally’s at St Sebastien’s. Halifax ended the draft by taking forward Aaron Carrier<\/strong><\/span> – brother of current Mooseheads star Shawn Carrier – in the 12th round.<\/p>\n

Next up for Russell and the Mooseheads hockey operations staff is the CHL Import Draft to be held on June 30th. The exact draft order has not been released but Halifax is expected to hold the 20th overall selection in the first round.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

The Mooseheads kicked off the QMJHL Entry Draft with plenty of excitement on Friday night when they made the first trade of the night by sending the third overall pick to Blainville-Boisbriand as part of a package that landed star forward Mateo Nobert<\/span><\/a> while Amelio Santini and Nick Cirka also went to the Armada.<\/p>\n

General Manager Cam Russell followed that move up by heading to the stage with the Mooseheads front office and Herd alum Justin Barron who announced Forward Emrik M\u00e9nard as the seventh overall pick.<\/p>\n

M\u00e9nard is known as a hard-working player with an offensive flare. He scored 70 points in 30 games two seasons ago in U15 with the Cascades Elites but was limited to just a handful of games in 2025-26 due to an injury. He suited up with the Connecticut Rangers south of the border where he scored eight goals and eight assists for 16 points in six games. He also played a pair of games for the U16 Woodbridge Wolfpack.<\/p>\n

The Eliteprospects.com scouting report described him as a player who\u00a0works at a very high pace and is able to mix in some skill along with his advanced playmaking ability. Even in matchups against higher-end teams, M\u00e9nard didn’t look out of place \u2013 staying well within certain contact, angling pucks in front of the net while battling defenders, and manipulating opponents with his dekes and skate-fakes.<\/p>\n

Halifax holds 13 more picks when the draft continues on Saturday morning at 10am at Scotiabank Centre, including three in the second round.<\/p>\n

Halifax Mooseheads General Manager Cam Russell acquired one of the top 2007-born forwards in the QMJHL during Friday’s First Round of the QMJHL Entry Draft at Scotiabank Centre.<\/p>\n

Russell traded the third overall selection in the draft to Blainville-Boisbriand on Friday, along with a second rounder in 2027 plus forward Amelio Santini and goalie Nick Cirka in exchange for Vegas Golden Knights third rounder Mateo Nobert<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Nobert will be entering his 19-year-old season and it coming off a career-high 30 goals with the Armada in 2025-26 after scoring 28 the previous season. He was the 85th overall pick in last June’s NHL Entry Draft by the Golden Knights. The Beaconsfield, QC native scored 78 points last season to help the Armada reach the semi-finals in the Gilles-Courteau Trophy Playoffs. He has tallied 171 points in 181 career games over three seasons after the Armada took him third overall in 2023.<\/p>\n

The playmaking forward shoot left and can play the centre position as well as on the wing. He is 6-feet-tall and weighs 178 pounds. His addition signifies that Halifax is hoping to become a true contender for the 2026-27 season as he joins a potent top-six forward group that already includes Shawn Carrier, Oleg Kulebiakin, Quinn Kennedy and others.<\/p>\n

Halifax also owns the seventh overall pick in Friday’s opening round of the draft.<\/p>\n

Halifax, NS – May 27, 2026<\/span> – The Halifax Mooseheads announced today that Brad Cuzner has been hired as the organization\u2019s new Manager of Hockey Operations & Recruitment, a role created to strengthen the team\u2019s player evaluation, scouting processes, and long\u2011term hockey strategy.<\/p>\n

Cuzner previously served the organization as Game Day Operations Manager and as Manager of Business Development, earning a reputation for his work ethic, professionalism, and deep understanding of the Mooseheads\u2019 culture. In his new position, he will work closely with General Manager Cam Russell and Assistant General Manager Allie MacDonald.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m incredibly excited to work the Mooseheads in this new capacity. I\u2019m grateful for the opportunity to contribute on the hockey operations side. Working with Cam, Allie, and the rest of the staff as we build toward the future is something I\u2019m really looking forward to,” Cuzner said.<\/p>\n

HALIFAX, NS, May 19, 2026 – <\/strong><\/span>Hockey fans from across Atlantic Canada and beyond will descend on Halifax this June as the city hosts the 2026 QMJHL Draft, presented by Fenplast, for the first time ever.<\/p>\n

The two-day event will take place June 5\u20136, 2026 at the iconic Scotiabank Centre, marking an historic milestone in the Halifax Mooseheads franchise\u2019s 32-year history.<\/p>\n

The annual draft serves as the league\u2019s premier selection event for players aged 15-17, and will bring together all 18 QMJHL teams, draft-eligible players and their families, league officials, partners, media, and fans from across Atlantic Canada, Qu\u00e9bec, and the United States. Attendance is expected to reach approximately 10,000 throughout the weekend, with most participants travelling from outside Nova Scotia.<\/p>\n

The 12-round process begins with the first round on Friday evening at 7:30pm (doors at 6pm) for the selection of the top 18 prospects. The Halifax Mooseheads hold 14 picks in the Draft, including third and seventh overall picks in the first round, plus four second-round selections. The second round begins on Saturday, June 6, at 10am (doors at 9am).<\/p>\n

The QMJHL Scouting Central (CSR) released today its final rankings of prospects eligible for the 2026 QMJHL Entry Draft, presented by Fenplast.<\/b><\/p>\n

Thomas Boisvert, a product of S\u00e9minaire Saint-Joseph, in Trois-Rivi\u00e8res, sits in first place after spending last season with Mount St. Charles Academy, in Rhode Island.<\/p>\n

Julien Bergeron of the Ch\u00e2teauguay Grenadiers in the Qu\u00e9bec U18 AAA Hockey League (LHM18AAAQ) follows in second place, ahead of Zaac Charbonneau, Boisvert\u2019s teammate at Mount St. Charles.<\/p>\n

Two other players from the LHM18AAAQ complete the Top 5: Pierre-Alexandre Lemieux of the Coll\u00e8ge Esther-Blondin Ph\u00e9nix, and Vincent Boutet of the S\u00e9minaire Saint-Fran\u00e7ois Blizzard. Boutet is the highest-ranked defenceman (5th overall).<\/p>\n

Among goaltenders, Zachary Lainesse, who recently won both the Qu\u00e9bec and Canadian championships with the L\u00e9vis Chevaliers, is the top-ranked goaltender at 17th overall.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, if we look at the top 36\u2014which could potentially cover the first two rounds\u201424 play in the Qu\u00e9bec U18 AAA Hockey League while six were born in the Atlantic provinces.<\/p>\n

Among the latter, Lawrence Williams, a defenceman playing for Pictou, is the highest-ranked at 9th overall, followed by forward Max Brien of Dartmouth Steele Subaru at 13th and defenceman Jack Cameron with Pictou at 15th.<\/p>\n

The CSR also evaluated several American players, and six of them received an \u201cA\u201d rating as potential first- or second-round picks: Logan Cotter, Robert Dekleine, Samuel Lee, John Queally, CJ Sawyer, and Blake Wilichoski. All are forwards except for Cotter, a blueliner.<\/p>\n

The 2026 QMJHL Entry Draft is quickly approaching, with the Halifax Mooseheads playing host to the annual event for the first time in team history on Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6 at Scotiabank Centre.<\/p>\n

The Mooseheads currently hold 14 picks in the draft, including third and seventh overall in the first round in addition to four more in the second round. In February, the QMJHL Central Scouting Registry released an alphabetical list of their top 90 prospects available<\/span><\/a>. 72 of those players hail from the province of Quebec, nine are from Nova Scotia, five come from New Brunswick while four are from Newfoundland & Labrador. The QMJHL is expected to release their final draft rankings in early May.<\/p>\n

Max is a big, strong, and powerful skater who brings a wide range of tools to the ice. He consistently uses his size to his advantage through physical play, strong puck protection, and a willingness to drive the net. He plays with a high level of intensity and a strong work ethic, making him difficult to contain. In addition to his size and strength, Max possesses good skill and a hard, accurate shot, adding to his offensive effectiveness.<\/p>\n

He is a complete, reliable 200-foot player who can be a difference-maker every shift. Strong defensively and effective in all zones, Max impacts the game in multiple ways.
