2023-09-05
Halifax Mooseheads General Manager Cam Russell announced on Tuesday that Liam Welsh and the Mooseheads’ organization have come to a mutual agreement for the 18-year-old forward to start the upcoming season with the Truro Bearcats of the Maritime Hockey League.
The Halifax, NS native was an 11th round draft pick in 2021 and has appeared in 37 career regular season games over parts of two seasons with the Mooseheads – scoring one goal and adding three assists. His Junior A rights were acquired by Truro in a trade with the West Kent Steamers (formerly South Shore Lumberjacks) last week.
Welsh will remain an affiliate for the Mooseheads. No corresponding roster move will be made and Halifax will start the season with a 22-player roster consisting of 13 forwards, seven defencemen and two goalies.
