Mooseheads season ends with Chicoutimi sweep
2026-04-01
The Halifax Mooseheads had their season come to a close on Wednesday night at the Scotiabank Centre following an 8-1 defeat and a four-game sweep by the Chicoutimi Sagueneens in Round 1 of the QMJHL Playoffs.
Quinn Kennedy’s third goal of the postseason was the lone marker for the Herd while eight different players lit the lamp for the Sags who will move on to face a yet to be determined opponent.
Defenceman Tomas Lavoie scored once and had three assists while earning the first star. Maxim Masse was the second star with a goal and two helpers while Kennedy took the third star for the home squad.
Overage forwards Sam Rousseau and Connor MacPherson played the final games of their junior careers and stayed out in the rink signing autographs for young fans for as long as possible after the final horn. Rousseau earned an assist on Kennedy’s goal along with Shawn Carrier.
The players converged in the dressing room one final time where Head Coach Brad MacKenzie addressed the team with a heartfelt message for the players and staff who have been together nearly every day since the middle of August.
Now that the season has come to an end, the team will start shifting its attention to hosting the QMJHL Entry Draft where the Mooseheads will have a plethora of picks in the first two rounds. They own Rimouski’s first rounder which will be no worse than third overall. They have 28% odds of landing the first overall pick via the Draft Lottery to be held later this month on a date yet to be announced. The Herd will also pick seventh overall and have four second round picks at their disposal. The draft itself will be held June 5-6 at Scotiabank Centre.
The Mooseheads organization would like to thank the fans for their great support throughout the season and we look forward to enjoying a better result with you next year. Go Moose Go.
