Defenceman Brady Smith to miss 4-6 weeks
2026-09-24
The Halifax Mooseheads will be without the services of defenceman Brady Smith for the next four-six weeks with the 19-year-old set to miss time for a broken finger. Smith, a free agent signing from Columbine Valley, CO in the offseason, suffered the injury during practice earlier this week. He appeared in the first two games for Halifax on opening weekend while paired with Eddy Doyle. The six-week time estimate would line up for a potential November 6th return at home versus Cape Breton.
General Manager Cam Russell made a corresponding move on Wednesday by calling up 16-year-old defenceman and 2026 second round QMJHL Draft pick Jack Cameron from the Pictou County Jr A Weeks Crushers. Cameron will make the trip to Newfoundland for the two-game weekend set against the Regiment on Friday and Saturday.
In other injury news, Colorado Avalanche prospect Shawn Carrier is out day-to-day with a minor lower body injury suffered while at Colorado’s training camp. He will miss both games in Newfoundland.
Puck drop for both Friday and Saturday’s games are scheduled for 6:30pm Atlantic. Fans can listen live on Jack 92.9 FM and watch the live stream on FloHockey via subscription.
The next Mooseheads home games at Scotiabank Centre are scheduled for Thursday, October 8th (Student Night) at 7pm versus Rouyn-Noranda and Saturday, October 10th (Country Night) at 7pm versus Drummondville. Tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster.ca.
