Eagles Announce 2023-24 Team Roster
Your Eagles are excited to announce the 24 players who will represent your Cape Breton Eagles this 2023-24 season!
The roster is highlighted by 14 returning players from the 2022-23 season, including, Cam Squires, who was taken in the 4th round of the 2023 NHL Draft by the New Jersey Devils, Tomas Lavoie, a projected 1st round NHL draft pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, 2022-23 mid-season acquisitions Antoine Roy, Brayden Schmitt, and Zach Biggar, along with 2020 QMJHL 1st round pick Nicolas Ruccia between the pipes in net.
New to wearing the Eagle on their chest are off-season acquisitions Cam MacDonald (a Tampa Bay Lightning draft pick) and Cole Burbidge, along with Eagles’ 1st round pick in the 2023 QMJHL Entry Draft Émile Ricard, a couple of 2022 QMJHL 3rd round draft picks in defencemen Étienne Desjardins and Lincoln Waugh, and 2023 CHL Import Draft Picks, Jakub Milota (Czechia) and Lubos Stahon (Slovakia).
Despite his recent diagnosis of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, forward Jacob Newcombe, who was a member of the Eagles in the second half of 2022-23, will be a part of this team. Our support continues to be on his health at this time, but we strongly believe his strength and fight will have him back on the ice sometime this season.
Your 20-year-old spots will be filled by forward Cam MacDonald, and defencemen Conor Shortall and Zach Biggar.
