Eagles Open Road Schedule With Visit To Islanders
The Cape Breton Eagles will play their first road game of the 2026-27 season against the Charlottetown Islanders, and reinforcements have arrived.
Two of the Eagles’ prized off-season acquisitions, Lucas Beckman & Liam Lefebvre, are scheduled to make their Cape Breton debuts tonight. Both players captured a league championship with Chicoutimi last season.
Both players are no stranger to trades, having been deadline acquisitions for the Saguenéens. Lefebvre averaged a point per game through 59 contests between Rimouski & Chicoutimi before being drafted in the second round of the NHL draft by the LA Kings. Lucas Beckman, drafted by the Ottawa Senators in 2025, posted a 2.60 goals against average and .917 save percentage splitting his season between Baie-Comeau & Chicoutimi.
The two new Eagles will be hoping to give their teammates help in serving up some revenge, as tonight’s game is the back end of a two game set against the Islanders. Charlottetown struck first blood on Sunday, notching a 4-3 shootout victory as Donald Hickey stopped 56 of 59 shots, setting an Islanders record for most saves. Former Eagle Hugo Charron scored in his return to Centre 200.
Reece Peitzsche, Cole Chandler, Eliot Litalien, and Brayden Reynolds helped lead the Eagles attack through opening weekend, all registering points. Peitzsche scored in both games as the Eagles did collect two points in a pair of shootout losses on opening weekend.
