Eagles Name Colton Reiley New Athletic Therapist
Your Cape Breton Eagles are excited to introduce Colton Reiley as the team’s new Athletic Therapist.
A Sydney-native, Reiley has spent the past number of years in Calgary pursuing educational and professional opportunities. After first moving to Alberta to play baseball for the powerhouse Okotoks Dawgs High School Academy in Calgary, Colton continued to spend the next several school years in Calgary to complete his Athletic Therapy degree at Mount Royal University.
While in university, Colton played varsity baseball for the University of Calgary Dinos, and spent time with Dinos Men’s Hockey Team as a student athletic therapist during the 2021-22 season.
After completing his Bachelor of Health & Physical Education from Mount Royal University, Colton worked for Absolute Athletic Therapy, a privately-run clinic in Calgary. Clinically, he’s treated youth and elite athletes, as well as the general population. While in the field, Colton has extensive experience with collision sports, particularly football, rugby, and hockey.
Colton enjoys combining his personal experience with his formal education and values the big picture, balancing both future considerations, with the here & now.
Colton’s grandparents (Kayo and Morena Libbus) were Eagles season ticket holders, and some of his earliest memories were attending games as a kid with his grandparents. To him, it will be a surreal, full circle moment when he steps on the bench for the first time as the Eagles’ Athletic Therapist.
“My excitement about joining the Cape Breton Eagles has just continued to grow since the initial opportunity came up,” says Reiley. “I’ve been thoroughly impressed by the general culture of the organization and the league – I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute to the team’s success and support each athlete. There is a significant amount of sentimental value for me to be a member of my hometown organization.”
When not practicing the profession he loves, Colton loves spending time with family and friends, and coaching Cape Breton’s next generation of young baseball players.
