Eagles Invite 2 More Free Agents To Training Camp
The Cape Breton Eagles have invited two additional free agents to the 2023-24 Training Camp, including Membertou’s Alex Christmas.
Alex Christmas – Forward – Membertou, NS
A 5’11”, 181-pound forward was a ninth-round pick, number 160 overall of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in the 2021 QMJHL Entry Draft, but was recently released by the team.
In 2022-23, Christmas appeared in 18 games with the South Shore Lumberjacks of the Maritime Junior Hockey League, scoring 3 goals and 8 points.
He later joined the Cape Breton West Islanders for 17 games, scoring 11 goals and 14 assists, while adding 4 assists in 4 playoff games.
Alex also played with the Eskasoni Junior Eagles of the NSJHL, adding 3 points in 3 games, and tallying 3 goals and 2 assists in 5 playoff games.
“I drafted him while I was the General Manager in Bathurst,” says Eagles GM Sylvain Couturier. “I’m excited to have him come to camp and give him a second shot playing for his hometown team. This is his opportunity to show us that he belongs in this league.”
Liam Noble – Forward – St. John’s, NL
A native of St. John’s, Newfoundland, Liam split his time in 2022-23 with O’Donel High and the East Coast Blizzard of the Newfoundland U18 Major Hockey League.
With O’Donel High, Liam notched 18 goals and 17 assists for 35 points in 15 games.
He then extended his year with the East Coast Blizzard of the NLU18MHL where he put up 49 points (17 goals and 32 assists) in 30 games played, while also adding 5 points in 4 games played in the playoffs.
“He had a great year last year,” says Couturier. “He’s a great offensive player and will compete on every play.”
Rookie Camp begins August 18th at Centre 200, with the veteran players arriving August 21st.
