Eagles Head To The Port City For Two Game Set
The Cape Breton Eagles are heading out onto the road this weekend for the first time this season, and they’ll have reinforcements as they look for their first victory with a pair of contests against the Saint John Sea Dogs.
Cam Squires and Cam MacDonald will be in the lineup on Friday night. For Squires, it marks his first QMJHL game as an NHL drafted player. The New Jersey Devils fourth rounder scored 30 goals in his second season with the Eagles last season.
MacDonald, an overage forward, is making his Eagles debut after a stint at Arizona Coyotes training camp as a free agent. MacDonald was acquired from Gatineau by the Eagles in the off-season, but prior to his half-season in Gatineau, spent 2.5 seasons with Saint John, winning the Memorial Cup in 2022. This will be his first appearance in Saint John as a visiting player. Last year he notched 56 points in 58 games. Tonight he’lll be facing a Sea Dogs team that notched a victory and an overtime loss in two outings last weekend against Acadie-Bathurst.
