Eagles Battle Sags In Front Of Packed House In Game Two
The Cape Breton Eagles will look to defend home ice tonight and take a 2-0 lead in their QMJHL quarter-final playoff series against the Chicoutimi Saguenéens.
The series opened in front of a record crowd of 4922 in Sydney and the home fans weren’t disappointed as the Eagles posted a 3-0 victory to take game one of the series. Going back to the regular season, it was the Eagles 13th win in 14 games, and it was Chicoutimi’s first loss of the post-season following their sweep of Moncton. It will be another sell out crowd tonight at Centre 200.
Special teams and goaltending were key factors in the opening game for the Eagles. Nicolas Ruccia turned aside all 25 shots in the victory, while the Eagles special teams posted a perfect record: scoring on both power plays, and killing off all seven Chicoutimi power plays. This is the final game of the series before the series shifts to Chicoutimi for games three, four, and if necessary game five.
