Girard the hero as Cats top Tigres in overtime
After being shutout by the top team in the East division earlier in the week, the Cataractes were back in action against the worst team in the East, the Victoriaville Tigres, on Friday night.
Gabriel Sylvestre and Christophe Lalonde each scored in the opening frame to give the Cataractes a 2-0 lead.
In the second period, Mathieu Olivier added his sixth of the year to make it 3-0 Shawinigan heading into the third.
Angelo Miceli, Gabriel Gagne, and Felix Lauzon scored in the final frame to tie the game and send it to overtime.
The hero of the night was Samuel Girard who scored with three seconds left in overtime to lift the Cataractes to a 4-3 win.
Antoine Samuel stopped 26 shots in the victory, while James Povall turned aside 35 in the Tigres defeat.
