D’Aoust reaches 40-goal mark in win over Islanders
SHAWINIGAN, Que. – The Cataractes weekend schedule began on Saturday night with the Maritime divisions’ Charlottetown Islanders in town.
Neither team found the back of the net in the opening period but the Islanders lead in the shots department 11-9.
Alexis D’Aoust opened the scoring in the second period with his 39th of the campaign, on the powerplay at 14:08. Assists went to Brandon Gignac and Samuel Girard.
In the third period, D’Aoust extended the lead to 2-0 with his second of the night. Gignac grabbed his second helper of the evening and Gabriel Gagne also got on the scoresheet with an assist.
Kameron Kielly cut the Islanders deficit to 2-1 just 10 seconds after the Cataractes second goal. Pierre-Olivier Joseph and Dexter Weber assisted on Kielly’s 10th of the season.
Shawigian capped off the win with an empty netter at 18:50 of the final frame. Danny Moynihan got the goal and his team picked up the 3-1 win.
