Cats lose Wednesday night, bounce back Friday
SHAWINIGAN, QUE. – The week began with a home game on Wednesday night for the Cataractes as they welcomed the Rimouski Oceanic to town. Despite scoring two goals out of the gate in the opening period, the Cataractes could not hold off the Oceanic the rest of the way as they fell 4-3.
Dennis Yan, Brandon Gignac, and Alex Pawelczyk were the goals scorers for the Cataractes. Frederic Foulem made 19 saves between the pipes. For Rimouski, Francois Beauchmin and Nicolas Werbik had singles while Alexandre Dufort-Laplante scored a pair. In net, Louis-Philip Guindon stopped 23 shots.
Friday night the Cataractes were back on the ice as they made their first visit to the Videotron Centre against the Quebec Remparts. This time around it was a much better result as the visitors grinded out a 7-6 overtime victory.
Alexis D’Aoust scored twice while Dennis Yan and Anthony Beauvillier had four points each for the Cataractes. Giovanni Fiore, Mathieu Olivier, and Alex Pawelczyk added singles.
Dmytro Timashov lead the charge for Quebec scoring two goals and adding three assists. Charles Graaskamp also contributed a goal and two assists.
