Cats lose in overtime despite late comeback
VAL-D’OR, Que. – For the second game in as many nights the Shawinigan Cataractes faced off against a team from the Abitibi area as they visited the Air Creebec Centre to battle the Foreurs. The final score was the same and the Cataractes came out on the wrong end of it once again suffering another 5-4 overtime loss.
Nicolas Aube-Kubel opened the scoring with a powerplay goal at 6:51. Alexis Pepin and Anthony Beauregard got assists. Five minutes later Alexis D’Aoust tied the game up with his 20th goal of the season.
Pepin and Oliver Galipeau each scored for the Foreurs in the second period to put them out front with a 3-1 lead. Shawn Ouellette-St-Amant followed that up 40 seconds into the second period to push the advantage to 4-1.
D’Aoust, along with Brandon Gignac and Louis-Philip Fortin each found the back of the net before the end of regulation bringing the Cataractes back from a three-goal deficit and sending the game to overtime.
In the extra frame, it took just three minutes for the home side to get the winner as Jan Mandat beat Antoine Samuel to send the fans home happy.
