Cataracts hire a new assistant!
The general manager of the Shawinigan Cataractes, Martin Mondou, proceeded with the hiring of Joey Bouchard as an assistant coach. Bouchard previously led the Whitecourt Wolverines of the Alberta Junior A Hockey League.
Bouchard, a native of Donnelly, AB., occupied the head coach and general manager position in Whitecourt since 2012. Previously, the Franco-Albertan, 36, was part of the group of coaches for the Alberta Golden Bears in the Canadian university circuit (CIS). He finished his playing career in 2004-2005 with the University of Augustana in the Alberta Colleges Athletics Conference (ACAC).
The new assistant coach of the Cataractes qualifies as a very strict coach who does not countdown the hours at work. He is very demanding and skilled motivator. “I consider myself demanding but I am a good communicator. I am able to talk to my players and I am open to creativity. ” Highlighted Bouchard following his hiring. The role of this new coach is yet to be defined with the staff that will be in place for next season.
Bouchard holds a Bachelor of Education and is currently completing a Masters in Physical Education.
