Cataractes win three-of-three this week
The Shawinigan Cataractes were back in action with three games on the schedule for the first week of March and were on top of their game winning all three games.
It all began on Tuesday evening as Martin Bernard’s squad picked up a 3-2 win over the Drummondville Voltigeurs on the road. Gabriel Slight and Mathieu Olivier scored in regulation, while Dennis Yan netted the overtime winner.
Next up, the Cataractes had a Thursday night date with the Sagueneens in Chicoutimi. Again they came out with the victory, this time a 5-1 thumping of the Sagueneens. Goals were scored by Gabriel Slight, Dennis Yan, Dylan Labbe, and Anthony Beauvillier added a pair.
To cap off the week, they were back at home against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. Givaonni Fiore scored twice and Samuel Girard, Alex Pawelczyk, Brandon Gignac, Christophe Lalonde, and Dennis Yan each added singles in a 7-3 win in front of 2,547 fans at Centre Gervais Auto.
The Cataractes improve to 35-24-1-2 on the season and sit fourth in the East Division with 73 points, just one point behind the third place Baie-Comeau Drakkar. The team has officially clinched a playoff spot.
